Community Guidelines
Last updated October 21, 2026
Made My Day is a place to share the good parts of your day. These guidelines keep it that way. They apply to everything you add to the app: your posts (MMDs), your display name and your profile photo.
The short version
- Keep it kind, clean and true to the spirit of the app.
- No swearing, hate, harassment, sexual content or violence.
- Don't share anyone's private information, including your own.
- Report anything that breaks these rules. We review every report.
What's not allowed
Profanity and crude language
Keep your posts and your name clean. That means no swear words, no crude sexual language and no slurs. Getting around the rules with symbols, spaces or misspellings (like "f*ck") counts too.
Hate
Don't attack, insult or demean people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness, age or immigration status. This includes slurs, hateful symbols, stereotypes used to put people down, and support for hate groups.
Harassment and bullying
Don't insult, threaten, shame or mock anyone. That covers other members, public figures and people who aren't on Made My Day. Don't post about someone to embarrass them, and don't encourage others to pile on.
Sexual or explicit content
No nudity, sexual acts, sexually suggestive content or sexual language, in posts or in photos.
Any content that sexualizes a minor is strictly prohibited. We remove it, delete the account and report it to the authorities.
Violence and threats
No threats of any kind, no calls for violence, and no graphic or gory content. Don't celebrate violence or the people who commit it, and don't support terrorist or violent extremist groups.
Self-harm
Don't post content that encourages or glorifies suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. If you're having a hard time, see If you're struggling below.
Illegal or dangerous activity
Don't promote, buy or sell illegal drugs, weapons or other regulated goods. Don't share instructions for hurting people or encourage dangerous stunts and challenges.
Private information
Don't share anyone's personal details, such as a home address, phone number, email address, ID, financial information or private photos. Keep your own details out of your posts too.
Impersonation
Be yourself. Don't pretend to be another person, brand or organization, and don't use someone else's photo as your own.
Spam and scams
No ads, self-promotion, repeated posts, fake giveaways or links that try to get people's money, passwords or personal information.
Harmful false information
Don't post false claims that could put people in danger, such as fake health cures or made-up emergencies.
Other people's work
Only post words and photos you have the right to share. Don't pass off someone else's writing or images as your own.
Display names and profile photos
Everyone can see your display name and profile photo, so they follow every rule above. In particular:
- Photos can't show nudity, sexual content, violence, gore, hateful symbols or anyone's private information.
- Use a photo of yourself or something that represents you. Don't use a photo of another person without their permission.
- Names can't contain profanity or slurs, and can't pretend to be someone else.
How we enforce these guidelines
- Posts are checked before anyone sees them. If a post breaks these guidelines, it isn't published, and the app asks you to change it and try again.
- Profile photos are checked when you upload them. A photo only appears on your profile after it passes.
- Display names are checked when they're set. A name that breaks the rules is replaced with "Someone".
- People review reports. Automatic checks miss things, so we review every report.
When something breaks these guidelines, we may delete the post, remove the profile photo, change the display name, suspend the account or delete the account. A suspended account can't sign in, post, vote or save favourites. Serious violations, such as threats or content that sexualizes a minor, can lead to immediate account deletion.
Reporting and blocking
To report a post or a profile photo, press and hold the post in the feed, or open the post and use its More menu. Choose a reason:
- Spam or scam
- Offensive or hateful language
- Harassment or bullying
- Sexual or explicit content
- Something else
Reports are private. The person won't know who reported them.
To block someone, use the same menu. You won't see their posts or photo anymore, and they won't be told. You can unblock people in Settings.
Who can use Made My Day
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
If you're struggling
You don't have to go through it alone. In Canada and the United States, you can call or text 988 any time to reach a trained crisis responder. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines as Made My Day grows. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you have a question about them, visit Support.
